Cody McCulley joined the South Kitsap High School athletics staff as the head coach for girls flag football in November 2023, while also serving as an assistant coach for football. His appointment brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field to our programs, embodying the spirit of SK pride and the potential for success that awaits our student-athletes.

A proud SKHS alum, McCulley's own journey through our halls (2000-2003) saw him excel as a multi-sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, and baseball. His athletic prowess helped lead the Wolves to state playoff appearances in all three sports every year of his high school career. Despite facing adversity with an ACL injury during his junior year, McCulley's determination and the support of SKHS's exceptional athletic medicine program allowed him to return to competition ahead of schedule, showcasing the resilience we aim to instill in all our student-athletes.

McCulley's senior year was particularly impressive, as he earned 1st Team All Narrows League honors as a free safety in football and 2nd Team All-State recognition as a centerfielder in baseball. His baseball career at SKHS culminated in a state championship, contributing to legendary coach Elton Goodwin's final season.

After graduation, McCulley's football journey continued at the collegiate level. He played two years at Ventura College before earning a scholarship to New Mexico Highlands University, where he completed his college football career and earned a BA in Business Administration.

Beyond his athletic achievements, McCulley brings valuable real-world experience to his coaching roles. His professional background includes managing high-pressure situations and diverse teams in the maritime industry, skills that translate seamlessly to the dynamic world of high school athletics.

As the head coach of our girls flag football program since November 2023, McCulley is committed to putting the "FUN in fundamentals" while fostering a positive, supportive environment that holds players accountable and encourages their growth both as athletes and individuals. His vision for the program aims to blaze a trail for future generations of female student-athletes at South Kitsap.
