Nick Kenyon
In November 2023 South Kitsap High School was thrilled to announce Nick Kenyon as the new head coach of our storied varsity baseball program. A true Wolves' alumnus and accomplished athlete, Coach Kenyon brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to our community that promises to usher in an exciting new era for South Kitsap baseball.
A 1999 South Kitsap graduate, Coach Kenyon's athletic prowess was evident early on. He was a three-year letterwinner in both football and baseball, showcasing his versatility and dedication. On the diamond, under the guidance of legendary coach Elton Goodwin, Kenyon excelled as a pitcher and outfielder. His senior year was particularly impressive, as he earned the title of baseball MVP in the Narrows League, boasting a perfect 9-0 record with a 2.20 ERA. Kenyon's .440 batting average, six home runs, and 30 RBIs further solidified his status as a standout player. His achievements earned him all-State and all-area honors, as well as a selection to the prestigious Washington-Oregon All-Star game.
Coach Kenyon's talents extended beyond baseball. On the gridiron, he played as a running back and cornerback under coach Dennis Sigurdson, demonstrating his athletic versatility.
Kenyon's success in high school paved the way for a notable NCAA Division 1 career at Washington State University. As a freshman, he immediately impacted the team as a starting pitcher. By his senior year, he led the team in appearances, showcasing his durability and reliability on the mound. Impressively, Kenyon maintained a 3.5 GPA in Education while competing at the highest collegiate level.
After graduating from WSU, Coach Kenyon's passion for education and athletics led him back to his roots. He returned to the South Kitsap School District, where he began teaching and coaching at his alma mater. His impact was immediately felt, culminating in helping lead South Kitsap High School to its 4th State Championship in 2015, a testament to his coaching acumen and ability to inspire young athletes.
Kenyon's commitment to education continued as he earned his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, further enhancing his ability to mentor and guide student-athletes.
As head coach, Kenyon aims to build upon the rich tradition of South Kitsap baseball while instilling the values of integrity, accountability, and teamwork. His unique perspective as a former Wolves standout, collegiate athlete, and experienced coach makes him ideally suited to lead our program into a new era of success.
Coach Kenyon's journey with South Kitsap baseball has come full circle, from player to assistant coach, and now to head coach. His deep roots in the community, coupled with his impressive playing and coaching resume, make him the perfect choice to lead South Kitsap baseball back to prominence.
With his leadership, the future of Wolves baseball looks brighter than ever.
